Reuben C. Taylor Computer Lab
The Reuben C. Taylor computer lab is the backbone of the Olin Behavioral Lab. It consists of a network of computers that enables participants to take surveys, play games, and communicate with others. The computer lab includes thirteen cubicles with desktop computers, built-in webcams and microphones, and headsets.
Small Group Rooms
Our four small group rooms are ideal for conducting research with small groups, such as negotiations, group decision-making, etc. Each room has a table, four chairs, and a white board. Additionally, each room is equipped with three wall-mounted cameras and microphones and speakers in the ceiling so that group interactions can be monitored, recorded, and directed from the control room. The lab also provides access to three additional “flex space” rooms (sans cameras and microphones) that can be reserved on an as-needed basis.
The multipurpose room is a convenient space for conducting research with larger groups or for holding meetings with your research team. The multipurpose room has space for eight tables and sixteen chairs, and comes equipped with a white board and 80″ TV monitor. The multi-purpose room also shares a two-way mirror with the control room and has four wall-mounted cameras and microphones and speakers in the ceiling so that group interactions can be monitored, recorded, and directed from the control room.
The control room allows researchers to monitor and record their studies from a central location. The computers in the control room come equipped with Noldus Media Recorder for controlling and recording from the room cameras and microphones, and Noldus FaceReader for detecting and analyzing emotions from facial expressions in real-time and on video files. The control room also shares a two-way mirror with the multipurpose room and is connected by PA system to the multipurpose and small group rooms.
Whether you’re conducting food-related research or just brewing coffee for your lab meeting, the kitchenette provides a dedicated space for food preparation. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, and basic cleaning supplies
Other Lab Facilities
The lab also includes a spacious reception area for checking in participants, eight laptops that can be checked out and taken off-site for conducting research in the field or classroom, and secure storage for equipment and research materials.
